So what are affirmations?

Put simply an affirmation is a positive statement that can literally reprogram your subconscious mind in order for you to take on a new empowered way of thinking and a positive attitude and thought process, affirmations help you take on a new belief system and take a more positive and optimistic perception of yourself.

Affirmations can help you overcome any self doubt or negativity and achieve goals you had been previously avoiding or just never thinking you would be capable to accomplish. A large number of people globally practice the use of affirmations to further improve their current situations and empower their belief systems. Our inner dialogue directly affects how we perceive ourselves and the expectations we have of ourselves and unfortunately for most their inner dialogue is usually routined to negativity due to the daily pressures and stress of life.

Our subconscious mind is the key to unlocking our full potential and affirmations work by slowly imprinting positive thoughts and beliefs in the subconscious part of the mind which over time will directly affect the conscious part of the mind even if you're unaware of it.

Although it isn't possible to directly control the thought processes that effect our subconscious mind we do however have the ability to influence it in a positive manner and therefore gradually weed out any negative thought patterns and self doubt, slowly replacing them with inspiring and positive thoughts.

Applying affirmations in your own life isn't difficult or even time consuming especially when first getting started, around10 - 20 minutes per day will be all that is required to get started as well as a desire to make lasting changes for the better in your life.

If you're thinking of applying affirmations in your life then there are just three rules that everyone must stick to which are;

They must be in the present tense not the past or future.

They must be really positive and uplifting.

They must resonate with you on a personal level and have emotional meaning.

A good example of a positive affirmation for prosperity would be something similar to; "I am happy to be successful and I am grateful that my personal growth, development and commitment has allowed me to grow prosperous and wealthy."

Notice exactly how that affirmation "affirms" I previously achieved/ gained wealth (even if I have not done so), at first this can seem a little sci-fi or you may feel you're lying to yourself (which would indicate that you're still experiencing self doubt) but much of our sub-conscious thoughts cannot make a distinction between that which is reality and which are just thoughts! This is the reason why "affirming" what you desire on a daily basis with positive self talk, gradually re-programs your mind to gradually take on a new belief system.

If you do find yourself dubious as I once was then just give them a try you have nothing to lose, there's no expense to meet, you are quite literally your own guru who's training there-self!

It never sees the means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom. It will seek a way where none exists, until it completely destroys itself. People In so many ways, we are like the buzzard, the bat, and the bumblebee. We struggle about with all our problems and frustrations, never realizing that all we have to do is look up! You need to ascertain what behaviors need to be changed. What are you expecting from the situation in which you are presently involved? Until you can answer these questions, you are not ready to get involved with a difficult or highly opinionated person. In order to avoid a bad reaction, it is necessary to plan. Before engaging the difficult person, you need to determine in advance how you are going to respond if the situation becomes difficult i.e. “Will you walk away? Will you back off until things calm down?” This process can help you focus on issues and concepts that might elevate the difficult persons’ responses into heated responses. When others are present, the difficult person will play to the audience and others may attempt to interrupt the conversation. Try not to deal with a difficult person when you are hungry or tired, in some situations you need to maintain your full attention.

What Skills Do You Need? Stay calm? Losing your temper and getting upset with the difficult person is not the best way to get them to cooperate with you. Anger will only trigger the difficult person into action and create a hostile environment where no resolution can be found, it is better to assume and maintain a calm persona. If you remain calm, you will be seen as being in control, centered and more respectable. To lose control will make it look like you are the problem and the true issues of the situation will be lost. The real issues surrounding a situation with a difficult person will be recognized as those of the difficult person if you remain predominantly calm. If you become edgy or upset, the focus is shifted to you as though you are the problem.

Separate the person from their behaviors People demonstrate behaviors that work for them. Even when it may seem that the person is just out to be oppositional, there are usually underlying reasons that are motivating them to behave in that manner. Reasoning for behaviors is often not readily apparent. Try to identify the reasons; why the person is demonstrating such behaviors and what is making them to act in this manner. Get a more informed opinion by asking others: Other people must have experienced similar situations in some way or another with the difficult individual. They may be able to give you a different perspective from a different point of view and offer a different take on the situation. The more information that is shared will help you to understand the behaviors of the difficult person and help you make a more informed decision as to how to deal with that individual.

Try to get on the same page with the difficult person Sometimes, it may be helpful to let the difficult person know your intentions behind what you are doing. A difficult person is often resistant because they think that you are being difficult with them. Letting them know the reason behind your actions and the full background of what is happening might enable them to empathize with your situation. This may help to get them on-board with your ideas.

Build as much trust as possible You may need to re-instill a sense of trust by connecting with the difficult person on a personal level. Get to know them as a person, with unresolved problems and not as an oppositional defiant person. Be patient and you might find you can build a stronger connection. If this happens issues and behaviors may be easily handled.

Be respectful Even though the difficult person has a tendency to treat people as if they were stupid, incapable, and incompetent, they in themselves do not like it and will use your perceived disrespect against you. If you treat the oppositional person in any way with what they perceive to be disrespect, do not be surprised when they treat you the same way. To paraphrase the golden rule, "Do unto the oppositional person better than they would do unto you."

Focus on only those things you might be able to change Most of the time you will be in a difficult position with an oppositional person, such as receiving a great deal of this persons ire or being wrongly held responsible for things you did not do. It must be noted that the actions of these individual’s have already been pre-determined. Do not dwell on what you cannot change. Focus your energy on those things you believe can make positive changes on the issues in your present situation.

Ignore If you have tried, everything you believe is possible, the difficult person is still not receptive, and their oppositional behaviors are not diminishing, the best way to deal with the oppositional individual is to just ignore them. This may be difficult in the cases where the person is a close acquaintance or family member.

Reevaluate the terms of your relationship

When all else fails in dealing with difficult people, re-evaluate your relationship and determine what benefits you are receiving by taking or accepting the behaviors initiated by the oppositional person. Sometimes, the only way to get an oppositional person moving is through an evaluation of your relationship and determining whether the relationship is worth the stress and anxiety and letting the individual know you are willing to call it quits. Only exercise this option once, as you would not want oppositional friends or family member, to think that you are only bluffing and are incapable of handling your own problems.

Learn about the appropriate skills that one should posses when dealing with people with challenging personalities. Find out how to make use of those skills to co-exist with others who may have difficult attitudes.

4 Mental Exercises To Help You Envision Success

The definition of success varies wildly depending on who you ask. My definition and yours might be completely different, or they may differ because we are simply working on different things in our lives. You may be working on quitting smoking, someone else may be trying to lose weight, I may be preparing for an upcoming speech I'll have to give.

One thing is for sure though, if you want to be 'successful' you need to get in the right mind-set.

So how do you get yourself mentally prepared to take on a new challenge?

No matter what you're trying to accomplish, there are 4 easy exercises that anyone can do to get themselves mentally prepared for success.

Meditation

Meditation is the practice in which you train your mind to induce a mode of higher consciousness. In order to do this, find a quiet place to either sit or lay down, and simply close your eyes and begin taking deep breaths in and out. Doing this can help you reduce stress, become aware of yourself and your environment, help you to ignore distractions, improve your focus, and even help your physical well-being.

Reframing

Reframing consists of changing the way we see things and trying to find alternative ways of viewing ideas, events, and situations. Reframing is a way of taking negative thoughts or emotions, and spinning them in a positive way. Instead of worrying over a past failure, use it as an opportunity to see where you can improve and grow. Practice seeing opportunity in failure or shortcomings, and pretty soon you'll be more optimistic all around.

Visualization

Visualization is a very popular one amongst athletes, business people, and entertainers. This variation permits the AV technician and the facility flexibility in the placement of the rostrum. All that is needed is a 110 volt ac power source and the Presenter rostrum is available for use. The power connections and XLR output are recessed into the pulpit shell to help prevent damage to the plugs.

The freedom pulpit is ultimate in convention center experience. This model provides self-powered Clear Sound Corp’s speakers and frequency agile wireless microphones. The Freedom podium can be used both outdoors and indoors. If additional wireless microphones are needed, a second rack can be added to house the transmitter and receiver.

With the available sound amplification choices to the convention center a shock mount and an 18 inch gooseneck with a microphone are standard. Depending on the model configuration, the Summit Lectern can weigh up to 45 pounds.

One of our newest additions is the traveler podium. This highly portable rostrum (28 pounds) easily fits in the back seat of most cars and can be carried to the desired location in Boston, MA 02210 by placing it under the arm or on the shoulder of AV technician. In stock shell colors are: Gray Granite, Beige Granite, or Bronze Granite. For an additional up charge, a black shell is also made available.
